GEETHA AMRITHA VARSHINI

तत: श्वेतैर्हयैर्युक्ते महति स्यन्दने स्थितौ |
माधव: पाण्डवश्चैव दिव्यौ शङ्खौ प्रदध्मतु: ||

Duryodhana approached his preceptor Drona but did not get any response from him. This made Duryodhana feel insulted and humiliated. In order to make Duryodhana happy Bhishma blew his conch indicating that he was prepared for the war. 
Then, Madhava and son of Pandava (Arjuna) who were seated on a magnificent chariot harnessed by white horses also blew their respective conches.
The Upanishad states that the body is the chariot . Madhava means ma=(moksa Laskhmi), dhavah = husband i.e. Lord of Moksa Lakshmi. Son of Pandu means the jeeva (individual soul) which is pure and white with sathwic qualities. This chariot is described to be a splendid one as the jeeva which is sathwic in quality, and The Lord of Moksa Lakshmi are both seated on it. Therefore, it implies that such a body is indeed divine. 
A person who wants to fight against bad thoughts, called kauravas must harness white horses to his chariot. Here the white horses signify pure thoughts, the chariot signifies the body. Thus one must install God within, if he goes for a war against the bad thoughts, accompanied by God, he will surely succeed. Bhishma who was the chief of the army and Duryodhana who was the king blew their respective conches separately. This shows that they had no unity. Where there is no unity there can be no victory.
But God and Arjuna being seated together in a chariot blew their conches in unison. Unity leads to bliss so this can be considered as an auspicious omen. 
On the kauravas side Bheeshma, the army chief blew the conch first declaring war. But, on the opposition side, Sri Krishna, the charioteer, blew the conch instead of the Army Chief, declaring war and taking the entire responsibility of the pandavas.
The kauravas were under the protection of a man whereas the pandavas were under the protection of God. The very fact that God is the charioteer indicates that God becomes the life charioteer of people who are sathwic in nature and chauffeurs them away from the ocean of ignorance and attachment, away from the war of worldliness towards the other shore.
